La Almudaina Royal Palace
This imposing Palace has been the Royal Residence since medieval times. Muslims and Christians have exercised power in the shadow of the walls of La Almudaina. In the 8th Century Mallorca was conquered by the Crown of Aragón, which was the beginning of the Christian domination and the dynasty of the Kings of Mallorca. Jaime II transformed the Almorávide Castle into a Christian Palace, preserving it although carrying out adaptations in the Gothic style. It includes the Kings Courtyard, the Queen’s Courtyard, the Santa Ana and San Jaime Chapels, the Arms Courtyard, the King’s Orchard, Arab baths, etc. Today it is used as a museum and the Spanish King and Queen also still use its magnificent rooms for official receptions.
